Quantum computing countdown: Bitcoin private keys may face cracking risk by March 2028

Abstract generation in progress

[Crypto World] Recently, a model called the “Quantum Doomsday Clock” made a startling prediction: on March 8, 2028, at 11:23 AM, quantum computers could theoretically break through Bitcoin’s private key defenses. This model was developed by two researchers, whose core logic is that by the end of 2027, quantum processors will reach the threshold of 1,673 logical qubits. At that point, current encryption methods like elliptic curve cryptography and RSA will become essentially useless.

Crypto analyst Charles Edwards issued a warning: if the industry doesn’t urgently switch to quantum-resistant encryption solutions, the $2.5 trillion crypto market could face systemic risks. While it still seems distant, the window for technological upgrades is actually closing quickly.
