Stripe 傳出評估收購 PayPal 全部或部分業務，雙方皆積極佈局穩定幣與加密支付，市場關注支付龍頭版圖重組。
據《彭博社》周二引述知情人士報導，近年積極布局加密貨幣、穩定幣業務的金融科技公司 Stripe，正考慮收購數位支付始祖 PayPal 的全部或部分事業。
報導指出，Stripe 這家未上市公司，已針對收購這家數位支付先驅或旗下部分資產表達初步興趣，不過相關討論仍處於初步階段，最終能否達成交易尚無定論。
Stripe 周二才宣布將公開收購員工持股，為現有、前任員工提供賣股套現的機會，公司估值達 1,590 億美元。據指，Stripe 表示將動用自有資金進行股份回購，而 Thrive Capital 、 Coatue 以及 a16z 等投資方也都會出資支持。
與此相對，曾經的王者 PayPal 雖然在 1990 年代末引領網購熱潮、推動數位錢包普及，但近年在 Stripe 等後起之秀的步步進逼下，市場份額與技術領先優勢正逐漸流失，英雄遲暮的頹勢顯露無疑。
PayPal 和 Stripe 都對加密貨幣，特別是穩定幣表現出了濃厚的興趣。
Stripe 去年收購穩定幣平台 Bridge，後者已獲得美國貨幣監理署（OCC）的初步批准，未來有望成為聯邦特許銀行。
另一方面，PayPal 則是在 2023 年與 Paxos 聯手推出穩定幣 PYUSD，目前市值約 38 億美元，已成為在美國聯邦監管框架下發行、規模最大的美元穩定幣。
PayPal 近期一項調查顯示，近 85% 受訪用戶預期，未來 5 年內加密貨幣支付將成為生活常態。公司也已宣布，將推出全新的點對點（P2P）支付功能，並規劃將支援範圍擴大到比特幣、以太幣與穩定幣交易。
PayPal 股價於周一因「吸引潛在買家關注」的初步消息而勁揚，周二再度因《彭博社》的報導續漲；不過，若拉長時間來看，該股過去一年仍累計下跌近 40%，反映投資人對 PayPal 長期成長動能的疑慮。
