Mặc dù Taproot đã giới thiệu chữ ký Schnorr và cải thiện hiệu quả cho giao dịch đa chữ ký, các công cụ phân tích vẫn có thể nhận ra mẫu giao dịch và loại địa chỉ, làm giảm tính ẩn danh. Hơn nữa, nhiều ví và dịch vụ chưa áp dụng đầy đủ tính năng mới nên người dùng vẫn dùng địa chỉ cổ điển, kém bảo mật hơn.
Song cũng nhấn mạnh Taproot bỏ qua rủi ro từ phía “social attack surface” – tức là phần dễ bị lạm dụng do hành vi người dùng hoặc xã hội – khiến nó không được xây dựng để chống lại spam dữ liệu hay inscriptions ảnh hưởng đến mục tiêu tài chính cốt lõi của Bitcoin.
