On March 18th, according to informed sources, Russian President Putin has requested to suspend supplying all weapons to Ukraine during the ceasefire proposed by US President Trump. A senior European official and three Moscow sources familiar with the Russian position stated that Putin, who met with Trump’s envoy last week, has made halting weapon supply a prerequisite for signing the ceasefire protocol. While Russia hopes to stop supplying all weapons to Ukraine, the minimum goal is for the US to halt assistance. The senior European official added that Europe is extremely unwilling to agree to Russia’s demands, as this could potentially allow Russia to rearm during the cessation of hostilities while Ukraine would not be able to do the same.
