BTC Mining Pool Foundry refunds the 8.18 BTC transaction fee accidentally paid by a certain sender.
Odaily Planet Daily News The BTC Mining Pool Foundry USA Pool with the highest total power has refunded an unintentionally paid BTC transaction fee, worth about 777,000 US dollars (8.18 BTC). On December 19th, Foundry USA Pool mined BTC block 875475, which included a transaction where the sender added a fee of 8.18 BTC, 91,127 times higher than the necessary fee.
On Friday, Foundry posted on social media that it had contacted the sender who had ‘inadvertently’ paid the fee. The Mining Pool confirmed that it would return the transaction fee to the sender after ‘careful consideration’, otherwise the fee would be distributed to the mining customers who contributed computing power to Foundry Mining Pool. “Please note that this decision was made after careful consideration, and we will continue to handle such cases based on the specific circumstances,” Foundry added. This is not the first time that a large BTC Mining Pool has refunded an unusually high BTC transaction fee due to an unexpected incident. In November 2023, Antpool refunded a transaction fee of 83.6 BTC, worth $3.1 million at the time. Currently, the Foundry USA Pool has a hash rate of about 280 EH/s, which is nearly twice that of its closest competitor, Antpool.
