Gnosis community members are reconsidering the choice of GasToken on the chain

BlockBeats news, on August 30th, according to The Block report, Gnosis community members are reconsidering the choice of the Gas Token on the chain. The reason is that MakerDAO recently rebranded as Sky and launched a new stablecoin called Sky Dollar (USDS). Gnosis operates a sidechain that currently uses a bridge version of DAI, called xDAI, for gas fees on the payment network. MakerDAO is the issuer of DAI, which is a stablecoin backed by encrypted assets. As part of the MakerDAO ‘endgame’ plan, it will allow DAI holders to upgrade their tokens to USDS at a 1:1 ratio, while also providing opportunities for native token rewards. The new USDS stablecoin may introduce more centralized features, including the ability to ‘freeze’ wallet addresses and restrict access from users in the UK and the US. These changes have raised concerns among Gnosis chain users about the reliability of USDS in covering transaction costs.
