Japanese villages support aging population through NFTs

Odaily Planet Daily News According to the remote village of Yamakoshi in Niigata, Japan, it has attracted 1,700 ‘digital citizens’ to support and maintain its aging population by selling non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The project, led by local residents, manages a collection of NFTs called ‘Koi Carp’, which not only serves as the digital identity of the ‘digital citizens’ of Yamakoshi, but also acts as a governance token, allowing participation in the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) of the village.
