Foreign traders received a price increase notice from shipping companies: after mid-June, a large container will rise to $10,000.
On May 16, some foreign traders reported to reporters that affected by the changes in the trade situation between China and the United States, the well-known shipping giant CMA CGM Group began to inform them a week ago that container freight rates had risen. The foreign trader also revealed that the latest notice was received that a large cabinet would rise to $10,000 after mid-June. There are also feedback from foreign trade enterprises that the current containers of US line shipping are “hard to find”. According to the rate notice issued by CMA CGM to customers, taking a 40-foot container as an example, from June 1 to 14, the US West freight will be increased to $6,100, and the US East freight will be increased to $7,100. From June 15, the peak season surcharge from Asia (including the Far East) to the United States and Canada will increase by another $4,000. A freight forwarder told reporters that at present, the latest quotation of CMA CGM in the United States and the West is $3,000 to $3,200, and the East of the United States is about $4,000 to $4,200. Freight rates will be raised by about $1,000 by the end of May, and are expected to increase by $1,000 to $2,000 in June. At present, CMA CGM’s freight rates are consistent with market rules, and other companies, such as Matson Shipping, Mediterranean Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd, Evergreen, etc., have increased their freight rates to a certain extent.
