The People's Action Party won the parliamentary elections in Singapore.
Jin10 data, May 4th - The results of the Singapore parliamentary elections were announced in the early hours of the 4th. The counting results released by the Elections Department of Singapore show that the ruling People’s Action Party won 87 out of 97 parliamentary seats, securing victory in the elections. The opposition Workers’ Party obtained 10 seats. It is reported that the People’s Action Party garnered a vote share of 65.57% in this parliamentary election, up from 61.24% in 2020. A total of 211 candidates participated in the competition for 97 parliamentary seats across 33 constituencies in this election. This election was the first time the incumbent Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, led the People’s Action Party in a parliamentary election since taking office in 2024. Singapore’s Parliament operates on a unicameral system, with members elected by citizens, serving a term of 5 years. The party that secures a majority of parliamentary seats can form the government. The People’s Action Party has been in power since Singapore’s independence.
