Ngân hàng Trung ương Hàn Quốc (BOK) đã mở rộng Dự án Hangang bằng cách bổ sung Kyongnam Bank và iM Bank, nâng tổng số ngân hàng tham gia lên chín khi chương trình thử nghiệm đồng won số bước sang giai đoạn hai. Giai đoạn này tập trung vào khả năng triển khai thực tế quy mô lớn, bao gồm phân phối 110 nghìn tỷ won trợ cấp nhà nước thông qua token tiền gửi có thể lập trình nhằm đảm bảo minh bạch và sử dụng đúng mục đích.
Dự án cũng thử nghiệm giảm phí thanh toán cho doanh nghiệp và tiểu thương, đồng thời bổ sung chuyển tiền ngang hàng, tiến gần hơn tới ứng dụng bán lẻ. Ngoài ra, BOK đang nghiên cứu khả năng tích hợp với các tác nhân AI tự động có thể thực hiện giao dịch. Khoảng 100.000 người sẽ tham gia đến nửa đầu năm 2026. Động thái này diễn ra trong bối cảnh luật tài sản số bị trì hoãn, giúp củng cố vai trò của BOK trong hệ sinh thái thanh toán số.
