Theo công ty phân tích blockchain TRM Labs, nguyên nhân chính của sự sụt giảm là các hạn chế internet trên toàn quốc được áp dụng sau khi các cuộc tấn công bắt đầu ngày 28/2, thay vì do hạ tầng crypto bị phá vỡ. Dù bị gián đoạn, hệ thống cốt lõi của thị trường tiền điện tử Iran vẫn hoạt động.
Các sàn giao dịch nội địa lớn tiếp tục vận hành trong trạng thái quản trị rủi ro, với việc tạm dừng rút tiền, xử lý giao dịch theo lô và giảm độ sâu thị trường. Ngân hàng trung ương Iran cũng yêu cầu một số sàn, gồm Nobitex, Wallex và Tabdeal, ngừng giao dịch cặp USDT-toman. Khi giao dịch mở lại, sổ lệnh mỏng và biến động giá ngắn hạn cho thấy thanh khoản bị căng thẳng. TRM cho rằng các dòng tiền bất thường có thể xuất phát từ hạn chế truy cập hơn là dòng vốn tháo chạy.
