Golden Finance reported that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) finalized a rule on November 21 to regulate large non-bank companies that provide digital fund transfer and payment applications like Portefeuille. The rule will help the CFPB ensure that these companies (especially those processing more than 50 million transactions annually) comply with federal laws, just like large banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions already regulated by the CFPB. The CFPB estimates that the most widely used applications covered by this rule collectively process more than 13 billion consumer payment transactions annually.
