Mars Finance News, March 21 — According to a senior official on board, over the past week, the Iranian Navy guided an Indian liquefied petroleum gas tanker through the Strait of Hormuz. After diplomatic negotiations in New Delhi, the ship was able to pass along the pre-approved route. This seems to confirm analysts’ views that Tehran is attempting to implement traffic control in the strait, allowing friendly ships to pass safely while causing other vessels to fear attack. The official said that during the crossing, the ship maintained radio contact with the Iranian Navy. Iran recorded the ship’s flag, name, port of origin, destination port, and crew nationality (all crew members are Indian), and guided them along the pre-arranged route. (Jin10)
