PANews reported on March 10 that according to Bloomberg, Apple has postponed Siri’s AI upgrade indefinitely, and the personalized Siri feature originally scheduled for the iOS 18.4 update will be postponed until at least 2026. According to insiders, the project was not completed as planned due to technical problems, and may even be overturned and rebuilt.
Apple had planned to enhance Siri’s AI capabilities to bring it closer to a ChatGPT-style conversational experience, but executives such as Craig Federighi, head of software, questioned the availability of the features due to poor performance in internal testing. In addition, Siri upgrades may require more AI computing power, which may affect the compatibility of older devices and delay future product launches.
