AI agents will become the main users of blockchain, according to Near Protocol co-founder

Illia Polosukhin, co-founder of Near Protocol (NEAR), predicts that AI agents will become the main user group of blockchain in the future.

In an interview with CoinDesk, Polosukhin envisions a model where AI acts as the “front end,” while blockchain functions as the “back end.” According to him, AI will become the central interface layer for all online activities, including crypto, by abstracting complex components like wallets or blockchain explorers, making them “invisible” to users.

The ultimate goal is to turn blockchain into an underlying infrastructure through AI. In this scenario, AI agents will directly interact with protocols to process transactions and tasks, while humans only need to communicate with AI. Polosukhin predicts that in the coming years, AI will operate like an operating system, becoming the default interface layer for the entire digital environment.
