Just saw the security announcement released by Polkadot's official team, and it's somewhat interesting. The Ethereum gateway contract on Hyperbridge had an issue, but the official emphasized that it only affects DOT bridged to Ethereum; DOT within the Polkadot ecosystem and other bridging methods are unaffected.
In other words, this specific cross-chain channel has a vulnerability, but Polkadot itself and parachains are not impacted, and the native DOT assets are safe. Hyperbridge has now been suspended, and the official team is investigating the issue.
It seems Polkadot responded quite quickly, directly suspending the related services. For those holding DOT, there shouldn't be any major problems unless you specifically bridged to Ethereum via Hyperbridge. However, such incidents are still a bit unsettling—what do you all think?
