A jury in New York reached a deadlock in the case of two brothers, and the MEV robot case ended with a mistrial.
Golden Finance reports that a jury in New York failed to reach a verdict in the case of brothers Anton Peraire-Bueno and James Peraire-Bueno. The brothers, who have an educational background from MIT, were charged with fraud and money laundering. The case is related to a 2023 Ethereum blockchain vulnerability attack that resulted in the theft of 25 million dollars worth of digital assets.
According to reports, U.S. District Judge Jessica Clarke ruled on Friday that the case was dismissed due to the jury’s inability to reach a unanimous decision on whether the brothers should be convicted or acquitted.
This decision follows a three-week trial held at the Manhattan Federal Court. During the trial, the prosecution and defense presented contrasting arguments regarding the brothers’ alleged use of maximum extractable value (MEV) bots.
