[FBI: Americans Aged 60 and Above Lost Nearly $3 Billion Due to Crypto Scams in 2024] The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) reported that in 2024, "the 60 and older demographic lost the most to Crypto Assets-related scams," receiving a total of 33,369 complaints with losses amounting to $2.84 billion. The "40 to 49 age group" was the second largest victim group, with losses of $1.46 billion. Throughout the year, IC3 received "149,686 complaints related to Crypto Assets, with a total loss of $9.3 billion," an increase of 66% year-on-year. The FBI warns that the public should "immediately report suspected cyber crimes to the FBI."
