South Korean actor Song Jae-rim's last work: 'Collapse', which may be adapted from the Terra Luna incident, will be released on January 15th next year.

According to reports, the financial crime film '폭락' (which means 'crash' or 'collapse' in Chinese) based on a true story will officially be released on January 15th next year. The film tells the story of a young man who creates the AltCoin MOMMY, achieves unprecedented success but gets caught up in regulatory issues, and eventually causes a collapse resulting in a loss of 50 trillion Korean won. In addition to receiving support from the New Media Content Department of the Korea Creative Content Agency, the film is also the late actor Song Jae-rim's final work.

Community speculation that 'Crash' is an adaptation of the Terra Luna incident.

The news pointed out that the film is based on a true story, and the judicial authorities have not yet made a final judgment. The crew has also conducted thorough preliminary investigations, as well as detailed reviews and legal consultations. The official release date was recently announced as January 15, 2025, and a teaser poster has been released.

Keywords such as the massive loss suffered by South Korea also bring to mind the Terra Luna incident. Do Kwon, the founder and CEO of Terraform Labs, launched the cryptocurrency coin Luna and stablecoin UST, which were once among the most well-known cryptocurrencies in the world. By balancing the issuance and destruction of Luna and UST through smart contracts, UST has also been the world's third largest stablecoin.

However, in May 2022, Terra Luna faced a targeted attack. The protocol's liquidity shortage was exploited, and a digital unknown whale dumped a large amount of UST, causing a massive price drop. The panic also left market participants unsure how to proceed, ultimately leading to the fate of UST and Luna heading towards zero, serving only as entertainment for the Mid-Autumn Festival revelers.

The final work of Song Zailin will be released in January next year.

In the movie, Song Zailin played the protagonist, Liang Daohao, who is a crypt-coin developer claiming to be a business genius despite facing multiple entrepreneurial failures. He collaborated with An Youyan, Min Chengxu, Su Xizheng, Che Zhengyuan, and others. In the drama, Liang Daohao's crypt-coin MOMMY achieved success, followed by regulatory pressure, ultimately leading to a collapse. The film depicts the other side of entrepreneurial investment and the reality of young Koreans obsessing over stocks during the day and trading coins at night.

Song Zai was found dead at home on November 12th this year, at the age of 39. It was reported that he had long been harassed by sasaeng fans (who invade celebrities' privacy and even engage in intrusive behaviors). Song Zai made his debut in 2009 with the movie 'Actresses', and subsequently participated in Korean dramas, movies, and stage plays. 'The Moon Embracing the Sun' and 'Empress Ki' are also his well-known works, and he also appeared in the music videos of the girl group 2NE1's 'Go Away' and BoA's 'Message'.
