Moderate exercise to nourish kidney yang

The kidney-yang-nourishing movement can refer to the sixth form of Baduanjin: “Climb the feet with both hands to strengthen the kidneys and waist.” Keep your feet the same width as your shoulders. After raising both hands above your head, press them downward. Slowly lean your body forward. Try to grasp your feet and ankles with both hands as much as possible. Sink/relax the waist and lift the head. Hold for 3 seconds, then raise your arms forward to help you rise. Repeat 5–8 times. This movement gently stretches the lower back, stimulates acupoints such as Mingmen, invigorates kidney qi, and relieves low back soreness.

At the same time, you also need to note that excessive exercise will instead consume and damage yang qi. Whether it’s daily lifting and carrying heavy objects with effort or working out in the gym, you should avoid blindly doing high-intensity, heavy weight-bearing exercises. After exercising, pores open; do not take an immediate shower, to prevent cold air from directly entering and damaging yang qi.
