Lately I've been torn again: there's a sense of security with the mainnet, but as soon as I see gas fees I want to close the page; L2 experience is much smoother, but whenever I hear news about cross-chain bridge hacks, I reflexively pause for a couple of days. Others think I go to L2 to "make more money," but in reality, it's just to save time and hassle—so I don't have to treat every operation like paying taxes.
My current compromise approach is pretty crude: for large and long-term assets, I try to keep them on the mainnet; for small, experimental, and frequent interactions, I use L2; if I can avoid cross-chain, I avoid it; if I must cross, I do it in batches, start small, and record the transfer times and fees—no need to gamble on a one-shot success. Also, in the atmosphere where everyone is "waiting for confirmation" after abnormal oracle quotes, I accept it—I'd rather be slow for half a day than save a few gas dollars and end up as a bagholder... That's how it is for now.
