As the tropical cyclone Narelle hits northeastern Australia, Rio Tinto has temporarily shut down the Amrun and Andoom bauxite mines in northern Queensland. These mines produce approximately 30 million tons of bauxite annually. Rio Tinto stated that it has activated its cyclone response plan, focusing on ensuring the safety of personnel and operations, and will continue to closely monitor the situation and take all necessary precautions. Due to the temporary shutdown, Rio Tinto’s stock price fell as much as 4% to AUD 145.36, the lowest level since January 13.
