ME News, April 3 (UTC+8): Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Fu Cong, spoke at the United Nations Security Council open debate on cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council, stating that the origin of the fighting in the Middle East lies in the United States and Israel launching armed attacks on Iran. The fundamental way to prevent the situation from deteriorating further is for the U.S. and Israel to stop their military actions. China does not agree with Iran’s attacks on the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, condemns all indiscriminate attacks on innocent civilians and non-military targets, and believes that maritime route security should not be disrupted. Ambassador Fu Cong emphasized that the Security Council should uphold an objective, impartial, and fair position. Under the current circumstances, authorizing member states to use force is nothing other than legitimizing illegal abuse of force, which will inevitably lead to further escalation of the situation and result in serious consequences. The Security Council must act with caution and play a constructive role in cooling down the situation and restoring dialogue and negotiations. (Source: ODAILY)
