Ministry of Natural Resources: The earthquake in the northern maritime area of Maluku Sea, Indonesia, will not affect our country's coastlines

The Tsunami Warning Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources issued information that at 06:48 on April 2, 2026 (Beijing time), a magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred in the northern Maluku Sea area of Indonesia (1.22°N, 126.34°E), with a source depth of 15 kilometers. Based on preliminary seismic parameters, the Tsunami Warning Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources judges that the earthquake may trigger localized tsunamis around the epicenter but will not affect our country’s coastlines.
