🔥 Iran proposes a limited navigation negotiation plan for the Strait of Hormuz; US-Iran tensions remain uncertain


On April 16, White House press secretary LeVitte said that reports about the White House having requested an extension of Iran’s wartime ceasefire agreement are untrue. She said that communications with Iran regarding the second round of negotiations have been “productive,” and that the relevant talks are likely to be held again in Pakistan. According to Reuters, a source familiar with Tehran’s position said that if an agreement can be reached to prevent a renewed outbreak of conflict, Iran may consider allowing ships to navigate freely on the Oman side of the Strait of Hormuz without facing attack risks; this idea has been included in its negotiation proposal. Iran will continue to maintain control over its waters in the Strait of Hormuz, while Oman will independently decide matters in its own side’s waters.
