World Trade Organization: Middle East conflict may drag down global trade growth prospects

On March 19th local time, a report released by the World Trade Organization showed that driven by trade in artificial intelligence-related products, global trade growth is expected to reach 4.6% in 2025, but is projected to slow to 1.9% in 2026. The report pointed out that conflicts in the Middle East could further suppress trade growth; if energy prices remain high, it will put downward pressure on the global economy and trade, and impact food supply and service trade. WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala stated that world trade remains resilient, but geopolitical conflicts bring uncertainties. All parties need to maintain stable policies and strengthen supply chain resilience. (CCTV News)
