A discrepancy in Everbright Bank’s financial report data has drawn market attention. In the 2025 annual reports the bank disclosed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Shanghai Stock Exchange, there are significant differences in the asset size data reported for its branch offices. In addition, according to media reports, the financial reports currently accessible on the Shanghai Stock Exchange are the replacement/revised versions.

In this regard, a First Financial reporter called the Everbright Bank investor hotline on the afternoon of April 1 to find out more. A staff member said they were unable to take media calls and suggested watching to see whether the bank would issue an official announcement regarding the matter. The staff member also emphasized that it was uncertain whether there would be an announcement, that they did not know the cause of the incident, and that it was not possible to verify it at the moment.

When asked whether there were any investors who were concerned about the issue, the staff member said that, at present, no related calls had been received. The reporter then attempted to call the bank’s office again to learn more; as of the time of publication, the call had not been connected. The reporter’s comparison found that the differences between the annual report data versions published by Everbright Bank on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange mainly lie in the branch-office section, where the asset size figures for sub-branches show large deviations.

For example, the end-of-period asset size for Everbright Bank’s Tianjin branch is 1013.25 billion yuan in the Shanghai version, but 598.36 billion yuan in the Hong Kong version; the end-of-period asset size for the Shijiazhuang branch is 1202.69 billion yuan in the Shanghai version, but 2866.99 billion yuan in the Hong Kong version; and the end-of-period asset size for the Qingdao branch is 980.1 billion yuan and 4431.88 billion yuan in the two versions, respectively—about a 4.5-fold difference.
