just realized how deep the crypto media ownership rabbit hole goes. so coindesk covers the whole industry right, but then you find out bullish (the digital asset platform) basically owns them. and bullish is literally investing in crypto assets and bitcoin strategies. michael mccauley and that whole crew - their journalists can get paid in equity from the parent company. like, they're covering the industry while financially tied to it. not saying they're corrupt or anything, but the disclosure is wild when you actually read it. it's one of those things where everyone knows it happens but seeing it spelled out like this makes you think about which stories get amplified. they do have editorial policies and all that, but still... pretty tangled web for a media outlet that's supposed to be independent 🤔
