ME News update: On April 8 (UTC+8), Danish shipping company Maersk said on the 8th that the U.S. and Iran’s announcement of a ceasefire has not yet been sufficient to fully guarantee safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The company is taking a cautious view of the current situation and will not resume the routes that were suspended last month for now. In a statement, Maersk said that although the U.S. and Iran’s two-week ceasefire agreement may create an opportunity for navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, maritime safety still has uncertainties, and more needs to be learned about the incidental conditions of the ceasefire. The company said it will continue to closely monitor developments and provide timely updates on the latest progress based on how the situation changes over the coming hours to days. “Any decision regarding the Strait of Hormuz is based on ongoing risk assessments, close monitoring of the security situation, and guidance from relevant authorities and cooperation partners.” (Source: ODAILY)
