During the US-Israel war against Iran, the trading volume of the oil fund hit a record high
Exchange-traded funds tracking oil recorded record trading volume in March, as the U.S.-Iran war drove crude oil prices sharply higher.
According to FactSet data, the “United States Oil Fund,” which tracks U.S. spot prices, had a turnover of more than 1.4 billion shares that month. The figure surpassed the prior peak of less than 800 million shares set in April 2020.
The “United States Brent Oil Fund,” which tracks the global crude oil benchmark, saw trading volume of more than 211 million shares. The previous monthly high set in 2022 was less than 112 million shares.
Both funds recorded record monthly gains in March. The USO ETF rose more than 55%, while BNO rose more than 49%.
