South Korea and France will cooperate in the fields of nuclear power, artificial intelligence, and mineral supply.
South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and French President Emmanuel Macron have reached an agreement to cooperate in the fields of nuclear power, artificial intelligence, chips, and core minerals supply chains. After the summit held in Seoul, the two sides jointly released a statement. Lee Jae-myung said the two countries have signed letters of intent for cooperation in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and quantum technology. In the nuclear power sector, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), a state-run Korean company, signed a memorandum of understanding with France’s Orano and Framatome. This will not only ensure a stable supply of raw materials for nuclear power plants, but also lay the groundwork for jointly entering the global nuclear power market. Through letters of intent on cooperation in core minerals supply chains, the two countries have laid a foundation for the stable development of the core minerals industry. The two sides also agreed to work together to help ensure the safety of maritime transportation in the Strait of Hormuz.
