On April 7, local time, Iranian sources cited unnamed sources claiming that an explosion occurred in the Jubail Industrial City in northeastern Saudi Arabia, which is believed to have been a result of a widespread attack involving U.S. capital. The Jubail Industrial City is one of the world’s major petrochemical production bases, with an annual output of approximately 60 million tons of petrochemical products, accounting for 6% to 8% of global production. The area hosts several large petrochemical companies and projects. Among them, the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation is one of the main investors in this industrial zone. Additionally, the Sadara project, which involves U.S. company Dow Chemical, and a project jointly invested by Saudi Aramco and France’s TotalEnergies are also located within this industrial area.
