Qingming Holiday: The average daily sales of key retail and catering enterprises nationwide increased by 2.4% year-on-year
Gelonghui April 6丨According to CCTV, the Ministry of Commerce said that during the Qingming Festival holiday, multiple regions implemented extended spring holidays in a row, which strongly released consumer demand and injected momentum into the spring consumption market. According to big data from the Ministry of Commerce on business, during the Qingming Festival holiday, the average daily sales of key retail and catering enterprises nationwide increased by 2.4% year over year. For the 78 pedestrian streets (commercial districts) that the Ministry of Commerce closely monitors, foot traffic and sales revenue increased by 6.0% and 6.7%, respectively.
In terms of goods consumption, as of April 5, 2026’s vehicle trade-in for subsidies received a total of 1.53M subsidy applications, driving new car sales revenue of RMB 246.8 billion. For home appliance trade-ins for subsidies and for digital and smart “upgrade-to-new” products, sales reached 62.85M units, driving sales revenue of RMB 215.97 billion. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, among key platforms, sales revenue of smart glasses and smart watches and bracelets increased by 3.2 times and 12.3 times, respectively.
In terms of services consumption, according to data, during the Qingming Festival holiday, the sales revenue of catering enterprises under the Ministry of Commerce’s key monitoring grew by 3.9%. On key platforms, hotel accommodation consumption increased by 2.6%; the number of trips across cities increased by 15.1% year over year; theme park consumption increased by 11.7% year over year; parent-child research-and-learning orders more than doubled year over year; and the number of car rental orders increased by about 40%.
