Trump: Iran could be overpowered within a single night—perhaps on the evening of the 7th, when the US can destroy it in just four hours
Local time on April 6, U.S. President Trump held a press conference on the fighting with Iran. Trump said that Iran’s entire country could even be completely routed in a single night, and that night might be the evening of April 7.
Regarding the operation to rescue a U.S. military pilot, Trump said that a total of 21 military aircraft were involved in the operation to rescue the pilot of a shot-down aircraft.
Local time on April 6, at a press conference held at the White House, U.S. President Trump said that whether the fighting with Iran is about to escalate or is nearing its end depends on Iran’s response to the “final deadline” set by him at 20:00 Eastern Time on the 7th.
At the press conference, Trump said that the U.S. is engaging in talks with Iran, with Vice President Vance and presidential envoy Witkoff participating.
Trump said that Iran does have “a willing and involved participant,” and that they “hope to reach an agreement,” but he is not able to reveal more details for now.
Trump said that an agreement acceptable to him must be reached before the final deadline on April 7, otherwise Iran’s bridges and power plants must be destroyed. He said, “We have already put together a plan.” Once it is launched, “every bridge within Iran will be completely destroyed, and every power plant within Iran will be completely crippled.” He also said that if the United States is willing, “the entire destruction process would only take four short hours.” However, he claimed that “he does not want this to happen.” In addition, Trump also claimed that the negotiations between the U.S. and Iran “are going very smoothly.”
When asked by the media whether bombing Iran’s civilian infrastructure and cutting off the power supply are meant to punish the Iranian people, Trump claimed, “They are willing… They are willing to endure this suffering.” Earlier that day, he similarly baselessly claimed that the Iranian people “want to hear the sound of bombs.”
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said that reopening the strait is of top priority. He also said that the tolls for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz should be collected by the United States rather than Iran.
