The Israeli military claims to have carried out an airstrike on Iran's largest petrochemical facility, severely damaging over 85% of Iran's petrochemical product export capacity.
The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement on the 6th that on the same day it carried out an airstrike on a large petrochemical complex facility in Iran’s southern Asaluyeh area. The facility is Iran’s largest petrochemical complex.
The statement said that the Israeli military has struck two major petrochemical complexes in Iran, dealing a severe blow to more than 85% of Iran’s petrochemical product export capacity.
The statement said that key infrastructure within the Asaluyeh-related facilities produces materials such as explosives and ballistic missile propellants, and that it is an important supply hub for Iran’s missile industry. The Israeli military will continue to intensify strikes against Iran’s core weapons-production infrastructure, aiming to cause “widespread and sustained disruption” to its military manufacturing capabilities.
Earlier on the 6th, Israel’s defense minister Katz said that the Israeli military carried out an airstrike on Iran’s largest petrochemical facility. According to Iranian media reports on the day, the petrochemical plants in Asaluyeh and South Pars in Iran’s Bushehr province—“were attacked by enemy forces,” and there were reports of several explosions. Citing local officials, the Tasnim News Agency reported that the United States and Israel launched an attack here again, and that the petrochemical production units in Asaluyeh were hit and damaged. Investigations are currently underway into the extent of the damage, and there are no reports of casualties.
