Vice Minister Zhang Zhilin of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Meets with the U.S.-China Business Council Delegation
The Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Zhang Zhil i, met on March 26 in Beijing with a U.S. business delegation led by Terry Tamson, the Chairman of the U.S.-China Business Council. The two sides exchanged views on agricultural exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States, R&D of veterinary drugs, the development of bio-breeding, and related policies. Zhang Zhil i said that China’s “14th Five-Year Plan” outline has made key plans for “accelerating the modernization of agriculture and rural areas and solidly promoting an all-round revitalization of the countryside,” providing broad market space and cooperation opportunities for foreign-invested enterprises in agriculture and rural areas. Chinese-U.S. enterprises in China should seize the historic opportunity of China’s rural revitalization, closely align their own advantages with China’s actual needs for agricultural and rural development, and share the dividends of development in the process of China’s agricultural and rural modernization. He hoped that the U.S.-China Business Council would continue to play a bridging and connecting role to promote the steady, sound, and healthy development of China-U.S. friendly exchanges and agricultural cooperation relationships. Terry Tamson and the participating business representatives said that agriculture is one of the most practical and mutually beneficial areas between the United States and China, and exchanges between government and business circles are very important for promoting more cooperation. They are willing to continue to deepen their engagement in the Chinese market, continue to increase investment and business deployment in China, actively integrate into the process of China’s agricultural and rural modernization, and play a positive role in further deepening China-U.S. agricultural cooperation.
