UAE oil export alternative route attacked

Recently, Iran attacked the UAE’s energy infrastructure, further intensifying concerns from outside parties that energy supplies could be disrupted for the long term. It is reported that the UAE’s Shah gas field remained shut down as of Tuesday local time after a fire was triggered by a drone attack. At the same time, the drone attack also caused a fire at the Fujaairah oil industrial zone on the UAE’s east coast. Fujaairah is one of the UAE’s most important energy infrastructure sites, and it is also a key oil export hub for the country to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Analysis suggests that the related attacks may have been intended to further block oil transport routes that try to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, posing a threat to alternative export routes as well.
