ME News update: On April 4 (UTC+8), an insider told CNBC that the U.S. Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on April 16 to review Kevin Wush’s nomination to serve as Chair of the Federal Reserve. A separate ongoing criminal investigation involving the Federal Reserve is still underway, and it is examining whether current Chair Powell made false statements to Congress about the costly renovation of the Federal Reserve’s office building. Meanwhile, Wush’s nomination process is still moving forward, which could put two parallel tracks pushed by the Trump administration at risk of conflict. Banking Committee member Thom Tillis has already said he will not vote to confirm Wush before the investigation is concluded, meaning Trump cannot advance both processes at the same time. However, by continuing to push the hearing, Trump is clearly still trying to achieve that goal. The Senate Banking Committee has not yet added the hearing to its public schedule. (Source: Jin Ten)
