The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon said in a statement on the 12th that it is deeply concerned about the severe escalation of hostile activities along the Israel-Lebanon temporary border line “Blue Line” by the adversary on the 11th. The statement said that UN peacekeeping personnel detected more than 120 artillery shells fired from within Lebanon into Israel. Israel then carried out 7 airstrikes and conducted more than 120 airstrikes in response. All of these actions seriously violate UN Security Council Resolution 1701. With the recent escalation of fighting along the “Blue Line,” once again tens of thousands of residents have been displaced, and multiple communities and villages have suffered extensive damage. Reports say that hundreds of people have already been killed, and more people have been injured. As has been the consistent pattern in the conflict, civilians always suffer the greatest hardship.
