Pakistan Offers Free Public Transport In Capital For One Month
(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor)
** Dhaka: The federal government of Pakistan has announced free public transport services across Islamabad for one month, aimed at easing the burden of rising inflation on residents.**
The country’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi shared the development in a social media post, stating the initiative would begin from Saturday, April 4, and remain in effect for 30 days.
During this period, residents will be able to travel on government-operated buses free of charge. The government will allocate approximately PKR 350 million, equivalent to USD 1.25 million, to cover the costs of the relief measure.
According to the minister, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed officials to provide immediate assistance to citizens facing financial pressure due to increasing prices.
Local administration and transport authorities have since been directed to ensure the timely rollout of the service.
The announcement has received a positive public response, with many viewing it as a timely step to support commuters during challenging economic conditions.
