Pang Donglai issues a statement again regarding the detection of lutein in the fresh eggs sold.
April 5, PDD EDC issued a statement saying that recently “Wang Hai Reviews” released on various online platforms related content about PDD EDC selling fresh chicken eggs “with excess lutein.” The company is now providing the following statement regarding the investigation:
After noticing the relevant video content published by “Wang Hai Reviews,” PDD EDC immediately established an investigation team to look into the incident. To ensure the data is accurate and rigorous, PDD EDC will send the fresh chicken eggs of the brands Zhengda, Deqingyuan, Yejiming, Huang Tian’e, and Shengdile currently sold to three testing institutions—Mérieux Detection Technology Co., Ltd., Bureau Veritas Standard Technical Services Co., Ltd., and China Analysis & Testing Co., Ltd.—for separate testing. Since there are many testing items, approximately 150 testing reports were produced. All testing was completed by April 3. The key indicators tested include heavy metals, veterinary drug residues, additives, microorganisms, and other related metrics. The test results were all qualified, meeting the product execution standards as well as the requirements of GB/T39438-2020《Packaged Eggs》 and GB2749-2015《National Food Safety Standards—Eggs and Egg Products》. At the same time, PDD EDC also tested the lutein content in the fresh chicken eggs. Because there is currently no corresponding national standard for judgment, the test values are provided only for reference.
