During my previous overseas account testing, I was often annoyed by virtual number issues. Later, I found that using SMS verification platforms can save a lot of trouble—just rent a temporary phone number to receive the verification code, no need to buy a new SIM card or expose your real number. After encountering a few pitfalls, I summarized some reliable Chinese number verification platforms to share.

Basically, verification platforms provide virtual numbers to receive SMS messages, covering multiple countries and regions, with pay-per-use or monthly plans. After registering, select the country, bind it to the website you want to verify, and the verification code will appear directly in the backend—simple and straightforward.

SMS-Activate is the most stable I’ve used; verification codes usually arrive within 10 seconds, and it covers all major countries. 5SIM is also good, with a clean interface and clear API documentation, suitable for API integration testing. If you're mainly testing domestic apps, platforms like XiaoNiao Verification and SuperCloud SMS, which support domestic number segments, respond quickly—usually within 5-20 seconds. Getsmscode is cheap, but sometimes slow for less common services; it depends on your needs.

Based on practical experience, there are a few pitfalls to avoid. Shared number segments can be used by others, so if there's risk control, you'll need to switch numbers. During peak times, verification code delays can be noticeable, so it's best to prepare several backup numbers for testing. When choosing a platform, don’t just look at the price—select reputable and active providers; otherwise, you might not receive the codes at all. Also, don’t use virtual numbers as your primary long-term number; privacy and security are not guaranteed.

If you’re just testing APIs temporarily, any platform supporting API verification is enough. But if you need stable registration on a specific overseas site, I recommend purchasing multiple numbers at once so you can switch immediately if one becomes invalid. Some platforms also support one-click number switching, which is very practical and helps avoid waste. Overall, SMS-Activate and 5SIM perform the best—low latency and high stability—worth trying.
