Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations: The so-called claim that Iran is blockading the Strait of Hormuz is baseless and utterly absurd.

Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations said in a social media post on May 5 local time that claims about Iran “blocking” the Strait of Hormuz have no basis at all and are utterly absurd. Iran has always adhered to international law and safeguards freedom of navigation. The mission said: “In fact, what truly endangers maritime security is the United States. Just yesterday, at a distance of nearly 2000 miles from Iran’s coast, the Iranian frigate ‘Dana,’ which was carrying 130 sailors and conducting a naval visit in India, was unlawfully sunk in international waters by a U.S. submarine without any reason, resulting in the deaths of more than 100 sailors. This reckless attack violates international law and the basic principles of freedom of navigation.” (CCTV News)
