The Indian Ministry of Petroleum said that to address the current energy crisis, the country is purchasing crude oil from countries such as Iran and has not encountered any payment obstacles.

This statement unusually openly acknowledges India’s energy ties with Iran. Because the United States imposed sanctions, India had once stopped buying Iranian oil. But after the Iran war broke out and Washington subsequently turned a blind eye to Iran’s crude oil network at sea, India and Iran began to restore their energy relationship.

“Despite disruptions in Middle East supplies, Indian refiners have secured crude oil demand, including importing from Iran,” the ministry said in a statement posted on the X platform, adding, “Contrary to rumors, there is no payment obstacle to importing Iranian crude oil.”

According to the statement, the Indian Ministry of Petroleum confirmed that Iranian liquefied petroleum gas has arrived in India. A vessel carrying about 44,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas is currently unloading at Mangalore.
