South Korea plans to increase the share of renewable energy generation to 20%

Gelonghui April 6|The South Korean Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment announced on April 6 that South Korea plans to raise the share of renewable energy power generation to at least 20% by 2030 to reduce its high dependence on imported energy and to meet increased electricity demand brought about by the growth of high-end industries. Under the plan reported by the Ministry at a cabinet meeting, South Korea will actively develop solar and wind power, expand the scale of renewable energy power supply to 100 gigawatts by 2030, and gradually shut down 60 coal-fired power plants by 2040. The Ministry also said it will strive to raise the share of new energy vehicles in new car sales to 40% by 2030.
