🔥The Strait of Hormuz passage is blocked, and two Qatar LNG ships turn back


On April 6, two oil tankers carrying liquefied natural gas from Qatar have abandoned their attempt to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and sail out of the Persian Gulf. According to vessel-tracking data, the “Al Dayaan” and “Rashida,” after loading liquefied natural gas at Qatar export facilities in late February, headed east toward waters near Oman to try to enter that waterway, but then turned around and left. Since late February, after the U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran, no oil tankers loaded with liquefied natural gas have passed through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Kpler’s vessel data, Qatar shipped two batches of liquefied natural gas to Kuwait in the past few weeks. These supplies were likely loaded from Qatar’s storage tanks, so they do not need to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
