Just spotted something pretty wild about UK Prime Ministers and how their wealth shifted during and after their time in office. The wealth gap is honestly insane when you look at it closely.

Some of these figures are mind-blowing. Like, Rishi Sunak basically stayed flat around 900M+ throughout, which already puts him in a completely different league. But then you've got people like Tony Blair who went from 1M to 70M - that's a 70x increase. Margaret Thatcher saw her wealth jump from 10M to 60M. Even David Cameron went from 50M to 70M over his tenure.

What's interesting is the pattern. Some PMs like Keir Starmer and Liz Truss barely saw their net worth change - Starmer stayed around 8M, Truss only went from 10M to 12M. Meanwhile, others made serious gains. Gordon Brown is a good example of the middle ground - his wealth grew from 2M to 5M, which is solid but nowhere near the explosive growth you saw with Blair or Thatcher.

The older generation - Churchill, Attlee, Macmillan - they had more modest changes proportionally. Churchill went from 10M to 15M, Attlee from 500K to 600K. But once you hit the modern era, especially post-2000s, the wealth trajectories become way more dramatic.

Boris Johnson went from 2M to 6M, John Major from 1M to 6M. Even Theresa May, who had a relatively short stint, saw hers grow from 3M to 7M. The whole thing really highlights how political careers in the UK can translate into serious wealth accumulation - or in some cases, how already-wealthy individuals maintain their status throughout their time at the top.

Worth diving deeper into if you're curious about the economics of UK politics.
