A solo miner mined a Bitcoin block and received $210 000.
According to him, the probability of finding a block with such computational power is extremely low — about a 1 in 28,000 chance per day. Nevertheless, such cases occur periodically. At the end of February, a single miner mined block #938,092 and received 3.125 BTC (around $196 650). In January, another network participant also found a block solo with a reward of 3.131 BTC (around $289 191).
Over the past 12 months, solo miners have mined 20 blocks, totaling 62.96 BTC. On average, this is roughly one found block every 18–19 days. The longest gap between such events was 58 days.
CKPool is a specialized Bitcoin mining pool that allows working solo without running a full node. Unlike traditional pools, it does not distribute rewards among participants: the miner who finds the block receives almost the entire amount minus a 2% service fee.
Earlier, CoinShares analysts reported that the cost of Bitcoin mining for some miners exceeded $100 000. According to their estimates, the share of mining revenue for large data centers (Data Centers) could drop from 85% to less than 20% by the end of the year.
