The European Union finally approves the 2040 climate goal

On the 5th, local time, the Council of the European Union formally adopted the revised European Climate Law, stipulating that by 2040 net greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by 90% compared with 1990 levels. The revised regulation will enter into force 20 days after it is published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will apply directly to all EU member states. The European Commission will submit relevant proposals to implement the binding EU climate target for 2040. (CCTV News)
