Minimalist public housing first anniversary | Nearly 10,000 households moved in Ho Wing-yin: Continuing to work hard for citizens' happiness
Housing Department Commissioner Ho Wing-yin posted on a social platform, looking back on the one-year anniversary of the Transitional Public Housing (Simplified Public Housing). It includes seven projects that were completed one after another: Yau Chee Road in Yuen Long; Choi Hing Road in Ngau Tau Kok; Shun On Road in Kwun Tong; Choi Yuen Road in Sheung Shui; Ching Fuk Lane in Tuen Mun; Shì Yùn Road in Kai Tak (Phase 1); and Tsai Shek Lane in Kowloon Bay, etc., together providing about 9,650 units, improving the lives of nearly 20k residents and helping families move on from substandard living conditions one after another.
Ho Wing-yin said that Transitional Public Housing has spent many festivals together with the residents. Seeing the transformation of the children, providing them with a warm environment for growth and an carefree childhood is the biggest driving force for the authorities to build Transitional Public Housing quickly. It also reflects the establishment of neighborly ties within the projects—warm communities, supporting one another, and moving forward step by step.
310 units have appeared in transfers—some residents have purchased their own homes
She added that within a year, 310 Transitional Public Housing units have already seen transfers, most of the residents having moved into traditional public housing. There are also residents who have crossed the housing ladder and purchased their own homes. In the coming year, more than 20k Transitional Public Housing units will be completed one after another, continuing to work hard for the happiness of the public.
